On Monday it was a premiere for XL Live at Expressen.tv and Lars Eriksson from "Idol" came to visit.
He performed two of his own songs and was very satisfied afterwards.
- This was really fun, he said after his performing.
Lars Eriksson got famous at the swedish "Idol 2008" as the guy who went his own way. He received hard critism after falling around on the stage and not bothering about half of the text when he performed Claes-Göran Hederström's "Det börjar verka kärlek banne mig" (written by the the late journalist for Expressen, Peter Himmelstrand).
But the popularity didn't decrease, even if it was during the week after the performance, as Lars Eriksson said, "a lot of sour looks".
On the monday Lars Eriksson played two of his own songs when XL Live had a premiere at Expressen.tv.
- It was really fun, I am very happy that you invited me, Expressen is one of the biggest newspapers. My goal is to get the possibitlity to perform my songs in the way that I want to, he said after his performance.
The "Idol"-judge Anders Bagge spoke to you about signing a contract with your already before you were out?
- Yes. And "Idol" is not completely finished yet. It ends on Friday. It is included in our contracts that we are not allowed to talk about stuff like that before the program is over. We have talked, me and Anders, and said that we can't talk. I don't know a lot more than that.
Could you imagine working with Anders?
- I think so, absolutely. I don't know him that well, but after the season's finished I hope we can sit down and get to know each other better and get agreed, because I really like him.
What don't you accept?
- To record other people's songs, to be controlled regarding what I'm wearing and my image, not a chance. I either do what I want to do or it's nothing, then I'll become a farmer or something instead.
Tell us about the songs you played in XL Live?
- Both "Console" and "Let's Go" are about the contrast between the difficulty in life and that it is wonderful and beautiful.
He says that he has 50-60 own written songs he is satisfied with out of 180-185 written.
- Last week I actually wrote in the blog on my Myspace and asked people to say what their favorite songs with me were. That was 50-60 songs altogether. I am not used to people listening to my music, so I had forgotten most of them.
Few artists have fans who know more than 50 of their songs. But there is a history behind that.
- I got a mail from a guy named Tobias. He wrote that he had sneak-listened to me for two years and downloaded about 70 of my songs. He had done a download site with the songs and asked if it was okay that he published it, Lars Eriksson explains, who said yes.
Would you have wanted to play more than two songs in Expressen's XL Live-studio today?
- Two is enough. I'll come back instead.
So, when will there come a record?
- It's a bit complicated. I am stuck to Sony/BMG until March, we all are. What I'm trying to do now is to meet musicians and get contacts and make it roll.
The Digital Media of Expressen's editor-in-chief Thomas Mattsson is very satisfied after Lars Eriksson's premiere play.
- Web-TV that is live-broadcasting is a big opportunity for Expressen.tv to develop the content even more, Mattsson said.
He promises that XL Live is not the last investment.
- We will continue to invest in moving pictures and present more, different programs.
