"It is a rock-theme - not Desmond Child-theme"
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/idol2008/article3713325.abLars Eriksson about the fight: We didn't get any instructions at all
The reason Lars Eriksson chose Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" instead of one of the guest judge and super producer Desmond Child's songs had nothing to do with that he rejects the songwriter. That, the Idol tells aftonbladet.se.
- We didn't get any instructions at all about singing a Desmond Child-song.
It continues to blow around Lars Eriksson in this year's "Idol". The last fight has been about Lars' choice of song in tomorrow's week finale - or rather the song choice he didn't do.
Lars Eriksson has chosen to perform a song that has not been written by the super producer and songwriter Desmond Child, who flew to Sweden as a coach and guest judge in Friday's "Idol".
"I've never said that"
- I asked why he wasn't going to do one of my songs and then he said that it was because he wanted to do real rock. "OK, good luck", I said then, Desmond told Nöjesbladet when they met him and the judge member Andreas Carlsson, 35, at Hotel Anglais in Stockholm.
But what he said isn't true, according to Lars Eriksson.
- I've never said that. I said that "it is rock-theme, not Desmond Child-theme". I chose "Smells Like Teen Spirit" because I love Nirvana. We didn't get any instructions at all about us having to choose a Desmond Child-song, Lars Eriksson said to aftonbladet.se.
How come that the rest of the six Idols have done Desmond Child-songs?
- It wasn't like that, there were three others who also had chosen totally different songs. But he [Desmond] pestered like hell at them until they chose one of his songs instead.
Feels attacked
Lars Eriksson feels attacked and misunderstood.
- I got a bit sad this morning when I opened up the newspaper and saw that he had said things about me that are not true, and that he doesn't like me. Of course I take in what he said. But it is not a fight, not from my side at least. I think it's fun that he's coming, at least I respect him as a songwriter and like him as a person. If he doesn't like me that's okay, he says.
